Two people are due in court after police uncovered cannabis and cash at a Cromwell home.
Police in Cromwell launched an investigation into the supply of cannabis in the area after receiving a tip-off via the anonymous Crime Stoppers service.
During the execution of a search warrant at a Cromwell residential address, officers found close to two kilograms of cannabis and $8,000 in cash.
A 50-year-old man and a 50-year-old woman were taken into custody without incident.
The pair are due to appear in Alexandra District Court on Thursday (March 12), charged with possessing cannabis for supply.
Otago Lakes Central Area commander Inspector Paula Enoka said the result was significant for both police and the local community.
"We will always work hard to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs within our communities, however we cannot do this alone," Inspector Enoka said.
She thanked the person who provided information through Crime Stoppers, saying it had helped police.
"With this result, a lot of harm has been removed from the streets to keep our communities safe," she said.
"We will continue to target those who supply illicit drugs, and urge anyone with information relating to illicit drugs within the community to please contact police."
Police said information can be provided online via 105, by phone, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
