Central Brief: A Christmas Message from Mayor Tamah Alley Wishing you all a safe and joyful festive season

As this will be my last 'mayor in a minute' post for 2025, I want to take a moment to thank everyone across Central Otago for the incredible spirit you’ve shown this year.

Whether it’s been through volunteering, showing up for your neighbours, running a local business, or simply doing your bit each day, your contribution matters.

The holiday season is a chance to pause and reflect on all that’s happened, and I encourage you to take time to connect with those you love. It’s also a time to recharge, celebrate, and enjoy the place

we’re so fortunate to call home.

From the big milestones to the small moments that made us smile, Central Otago continues to show strength, kindness and heart. If you’d like to revisit some of this year’s highlights, I invite you to watch a

short video we’ve put together. It’s a snapshot of my year, and a reminder of how special this region truly is.

As we look to 2026, I remain focused on ensuring our district is a safe, inclusive and thriving place for all. I’m proud to represent you, and excited about what’s ahead.

Until then, from my whānau to yours, may your Christmas and New Year be filled with good company, good cheer, and a sense of peace. Be safe, be kind, and thank you for being part of what makes Central Otago better, together.
