Cromwell Police responded to a complaint in relation to the driving behaviour of a motorcyclist around 11pm on February 26.

Acting Senior Sergeant Regan Price said they located the rider crashed at an intersection, and he received moderate injuries, whilst the passenger was uninjured. Enquiries into the crash are ongoing.

Two days later on February 28, police were called to an assault in Alexandra, and a 22-year-old female arrested for using a weapon, wilful damage and escaping police custody. She was bailed to appear in the Alexandra District Court on March 5.

On the same day, a 34-year-old male driver crashed his vehicle off the road on State Highway 8 in the Lindis Pass at 3:30am.

Regan said the passenger received critical injuries and remains in hospital. The driver – who at the time was breaching court bail conditions, has been charged with driving offences as well as possessing methamphetamine. 

He will appear in Dunedin District Court on March 5. The Serious Crash Unit attended the scene and enquiries into the crash are ongoing.
